We suggest, before your appointment, spend some time thinking about your condition and what you expect to achieve through Ashi Point Shiatsu. You could make some notes before you attend the Clinic, about your hopes and concerns. If you have several medical disorders, place them in order of importance, so that we address the dominant condition foremost. Secondary medical problems may then be addressed next, further down the line.
We would advise that you don’t drink alcohol on the day; drink plenty of water instead. Depending on the time of day, you could have a light meal a couple of hours before your session. Avoid a heavy or undigested meal, so that you are comfortable.
Allow yourself plenty of time to arrive unhurried and relaxed. Hurrying will affect your physical and mental well-being and is probably detrimental to the good effects of the therapy you are about to enjoy.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and please bring a spare pair of socks for the session.
Understanding the after-effects from Alternative medical treatment:
- Bodywork may give rise to physical discomposure and some mental anxiety, particularly following the first and the second treatments.
- The treatment will have started a process whereby elements within the body begin to ‘push and pull’ the physiological functions back into better balance.
- The recovery process is also one of cleansing and detoxifying on both physical and psychological levels. Endure the reactions and ‘reap what you sow’.
After treatment, many people feel relaxed but energised with increased mobility in their muscles and joints. There may be mild side-effects like headaches, muscle soreness and a feeling of tiredness, but this is normal and will usually pass after a few hours. Should these reactions continue beyond a day or two then please consult us.
You will feel the benefit of Ashi Point Shiatsu from your first session and, after two or three, we will be able to discuss the therapy’s effectiveness. You can then agree what course of treatments will maintain and increase your progress towards continued health through balance.
Many people continue with Ashi Point Shiatsu when their conditions have cleared up; they appreciate the long-term well-being this therapy induces.
