Albert Einstein is believed to have said that the definition of insanity, is doing something over and over again, and expecting a different result. Also meaning, that if you do not change the pattern of your action, you will never get a different result.
To see a therapist is not the most effective way to remove your aches and pains for good. Our body, the bones and muscles have memories. A well trained therapist may correct your misalignment, but after a day or a week, distortions could all return as before, and then the aches and pains come back again.
Without a healthy diet and lifestyle, treatment and Chinese herbal medicine alone, cannot heal or prevent the reoccurrence of chronic illness. The historical precedent of these observations by both the Chinese scholars and the Greek physicians, means that throughout the world, it is understood that the foundation of health, starts and is built upon the diet and the lifestyle the patient leads.
Ashi Point Shiatsu, combining Shiatsu treatment with Pelvic Correction and Yuan Shidian Medicine which is the most powerful treatment at present, will relieve pain, discomfort and lack of well-being after just one session. During a course of treatments, further weekly or fortnightly sessions will continue to enhance effectiveness, but you too must contribute to your own healing. I will discuss with you your lifestyle, diet and exercise routines you must try, so that you will change your lifestyle for the better, then your body will heal itself.
The alignment of your pelvis is crucial, yet the body’s memory is strong and the movements which may cause it to revert to misalignment can often be most habitual. The techniques and exercises I will show you, will help to prevent that from happening. In Chinese we have a saying that the pelvis is the root of all evil. So stabilizing the pelvis is crucial for human beings health. Without it, there is nothing we can build on.
Understanding why you are in pain, is the next step to gaining some control. Then, I will show you techniques you can practice at home or at work to stabilise your pelvis, in order to be pain free.
The Pelvic Corrector
As part of Ashi Point Shiatsu and as a way of continuing its effectiveness, some people learn to use the Pelvic Corrector. This is a simple but ingenious device with no moving parts, which has been created to allow the practice of important techniques to assist pelvic alignment.
You will be able to discuss with me whether pelvic alignment is an issue for you. Then we can also learn the techniques and decide whether you want to practice them at home. Those who chose to use the Pelvic Corrector report very effective relief from many muscular-skeletal aches and pains, as a result of stabilizing their pelvis.
The Pelvic Corrector device and its rationale, was invented, designed and developed by Alexander Barrie, MRSS, RCST, ABSPC, founder of the Pelvic Correction System.
Recipe for a New Healthy You
The true, ultimate healing comes from our own body; us human beings, have a self-healing mechanism which is called the immune system. There is no medicine or therapy that can cure us. Our body cures itself. So, we need to help our body to heal itself. The following is a general guidance for most of us.
- Exercise, exercise and exercise. Every day!!!
Please stretch the body to warm up and cool down properly before and after any exercise.
Climb stairs: You can do this at home. Two stairs per step as many times as you can, then gradually build up.
Push ups: Start to do this using the stairs (instead of flat on the floor), this will help build up your strength.
Sprint: 30 seconds sprint, slow down to catch up breath for 2 minutes; then sprint 30 seconds again and slow down for 2 minutes; repeat 5-8 times. Do every other day.
- Eat only warm cooked food (with spices, such as ginger, onion, garlic and chilli). No more (or perhaps less) fruits, salads and cold drinks.
Use taste to tell the food material is cooling or warming:
Cooling: Sour – (vinegar, lemon, grapefruit, orange, etc).
Sweet – (sugar, chocolates, deserts, fruits, etc).
Salt, Bitter – (coffee, Chinese green tea, bitter taste vegetables).
Warming: Most spices; e.g. ginger, onion, garlic and chilli. The most well-known Chinese warming herbs are ginseng and Dang Gui.
The most important thing is to cook delicious warming food and balance the taste; which means to use salt, sugar and vinegar in moderation in cooking.
- Apply external warmth to body, electric blanket, hot water bottle, heated patches, etc.
- Have Ashi Point Shiatsu treatments; for seriously ill people, I can show the family how to work on them at home, because they may need to be worked on, on a daily basis.
- Be positive!!!
The Daily ginger drink and how to make it. (the ginger dosage depends on your condition; we prefer to use fresh organic ginger)
How much we should use ginger:
|condition||Fresh organic ginger (gm)||Dry organic ginger (gm)|
|Normal dosage||Maximum dosage||Normal dosage||Maximum dosage|
|Seriously ill/ or feeling weak||100 – 150||500||10-15||50|
|Critically ill||500 – 750||1500||50 -75||150|
(For children, 30gm ginger and 700cc water cook for 2 hours)
Wash the ginger; do not peel it; smash it briefly, cut into pieces. Then take a pot, put in your ginger pieces and use 1 litre of water; bring it to boil and simmer for about 3 – 4 hours. Please do not open the lid while cooking. You can cook your ginger at the end of the day or early morning. Then keep it in a flask and drink it throughout the day. If you have a reaction, it means that your injury in the body is blocking the warmth/energy that ginger gives you. You should have treatment first to remove the injuries, and then your reaction to ginger drink will be gone. It happens to many women during or after their menopause, because they feel hot/cold or sweaty all the time. In those cases, I need to treat them first.
For your reference, for seriously ill (frail) people, the way to use ginger is from less to more to build up until you find the correct amount for you. It is up to how much warmth that your body can absorb. You should feel warm and comfortable after you drink the ginger.
